Six Apart spins like a Whirling Dervish.

Suw Charman takes on SixApart over the crappy state of MovableType today. The load caused by comment spam (and their crappy “search” engine) were the main reasons why I defected to my own Django-powered system in December. (Good comments thread on this post too)

Solid Wall of Code: AutoBan

MT plugin that adds “Deny” entries to your .htaccess file when someone’s clobbering you with comment spam, saving you the CPU cycles. I’ve installed it — if it works, I’ll be giddy as a schoolgirl.

The hugely-successful Akismet anti-comment-spam plugin for Wordpress has been ported to MT.
