Keith Rabois: Why Square's handcrafted approach to payments can win

Amused by the following description, which pretty much defines Square as the Bose of payment providers:

“If you’ve bought an audio system for your house, trying to set that up is a major deterrent. Trying to figure out which component goes with which component, it can deter people from actually buying the best new systems. If you craft an experience end-to-end, it just works out of the box.”

Bose VideoWave Entertainment System

Congrats to the folks at Bose for getting this out. I remember listening to the early prototypes in 2007, and being hugely impressed with the sound. (But ouch! What a price tag!) Will be heading into a Bose store in the next few weeks to see the demo!

Swiss-Army-Knife Software Engineer at Bose Corporation, Framingham MA

My group at RhymesWithNose is hiring. I can honestly say that this is the most fun and challenging job I’ve ever had, so if you think you’re hot stuff, or have any questions, let me know. We’re working on some pretty damned cool stuff.

Audible Awesomeness

Audible Awesomeness

A Slim Devices Squeezebox atop a new portable speaker which, depending on how you read my employer's new blogging policy, I don't think I'm allowed to tell you is bloody great.

But let's just say that the combination of the two is comparable to the combinations of cheese and pickle, hops and barley, or The Beatles and recreational drugs.

ericd.net | flash in the wild

There’s at least a handful of lines of Python in this demo that were written by me — The first thing I’ve worked on at RhymesWithNose that’s made it out of R&D into the real world (Well, a RhymesWithNose store in Wrentham!)

The AudioFile: Jacking Off the iPhone

Your lovely [RhymesWithNose] (or Shure or Sony or whatever) headphones? Won’t plug into the iPhone (at least without a bunch of hassle). You have to imagine Apple have something up their sleeves here, but it really makes little sense.

[RhymesWithNose] Corporate Center

Another shot trying out my new camera. This is from the [RhymesWithNose] parking lot on The Mountain, facing the shiny "Corporate Center". Not pictured: The beige 70's-style "R&D Building" where I work.

Advertising/Design Goodness - Bose

It appears that the New Zealand advertising for Bose QuietComfort headphones is *considerably* different from the US and UK material.

CrunchGear » Do You Love or Hate Bose? Tell Us Why and Win a Prize!

Set-up for what certainly seems to be a hatchet-job on Bose, but it does include the superb introduction “Bose is sort of the Hillary Clinton of tech — you either love them or hate them, and they’ve got lots of cash.”

View from the bridge *over* the Victory Bridge

The red carpet bridge was right below us, but we took another thirty minutes to find our way there.

The Davis Mega-Maze Thursday 1:31 pm 8/17/06 South Lancaster, Massachusetts

This afternoon, our team at work took a group outing (under the auspices of "team building exercise") to the Davis Mega-Maze, a massive maze through 10-foot-tall corn. It took us an hour to find our way out!

Bose Quiet Comfort 3 Noise-Cancelling Headphones Hands-on - Gizmodo

Signs you work for A Big Company: The first time you see a new product, it’s a review on Gizmodo. I have a pair of QC2s that I love to bits. Can’t wait to get my hands on a pair of these.

If music is important in your life, sooner or later you will own a [RhymesWithNose] system

If music is important in your life, sooner or later you will own a [RhymesWithNose] system

Spotted this slogan on a truck while waiting for a train to pass. What a gloriously arrogant statement. I, of course, love it!
