SUPPLIES!

Interesting new addition in OSX Tiger… On every “Print” dialog is a button marked “Supplies”

Clicking it drops you into the Apple Store page for your printer (for example, my HP Laserjet(The Apple Store (U.S.))), ready to give Apple some cash in exchange for more toner.

Fabulous time-saving innovation, or would-get-Microsoft-strung-up-if-they-tried-it tactic?

(Aside: The title of this post is a reference to a joke I loved as a kid, which is sadly too politically-incorrect in this day and age for me to consider posting here. I have no quandries, however, about

If Microsoft did it: "Privacy violation!" "Anti-trust violation" "Monopoly!" "Microsoft raped and killed my mother!"

If Mac does it: "Ah, great new feature, look it's soo convenient, do you guys have it, huh?" Followed by pointing and snickering towards an XP crowd.

It just doesn't make any sense.
