TinEye Mobile - Idée Inc.

Take a photo of a CD sleeve, and it’ll attempt to ID it for you. Like Shazam, but for product photos. Since I use my iPhone as a way of remembering books I’ve seen in Borders to buy off of Amazon, that’d be a handy app.

Ten Years in My Life: My Love Life

Ten Years in My Life: My Love Life

On Saturday, 24th October 1998, I flew from Glasgow to Boston, with little more than a suitcase of clothes and a credit card with a decently high limit.

It's now 24th October 2008. Ten years have gone by. Time for little personal retrospection. How have I spent these ten years?

Poladroid

Gorgeously playful app which takes your digital photos and makes them look like old Polaroid snaps. Features loving touches like having to wait for the photo to “develop”.

Campaign: Atheist Bus

In response to offensively fire-and-brimstoney religious groups’ ads on the sides of London buses, a comedian started a campaign to run ads saying “There’s probably no god. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life.” After 24 hours, they’ve exceeded their desired £5,500 goal… by almost £40,000!

Amazing! And, perhaps, an example of why The Terrorists hate our freedoms.

House whiteboard font

Looking for a good “handwritten” font to create some deliberately sketchy-looking UI sketches, I discovered this one, based upon Hugh Laurie’s handwriting captured from whiteboards on House: A winning combination of legibility, scrawliness, and weird obsessive behaviour by the font-maker. Perfect!

The Bugle

WHY was I not aware of this sooner‽ A *THOROUGHLY* splendid satirical weekly podcast featuring John Oliver (off of The Daily Show) and the man who I described as his “erstwhile” UK comedy partner (until I discovered they were doing this podcast together), Andy Zaltzman. Absofuckinglutely fantastic.
