DirecTV apparently decide that they just have too many satisfied customers in the New England area, so kill the NESN transmission of Red Sox opening day. (Thankfully, the HD feed still worked!)

DIRECTV on Demand - DBSTalk's First Look - DBSTalk.Com

DirecTV is beta-testing a new video-on-demand service on their High-Def PVRs. Since there’s only one-way communication via the satellite dish, they require you to plug an ethernet cable in the back of the PVR. Interesting approach.

XM Satellite Radio on DirecTV

You can now get XM stations on DirecTV (replacing the old MusicChoice channels). I particularly recommend “Lucy” (alternative greatest hits) and “Ethel” (current alternative music) on channels 838 and 834.
