This afternoon's New England Twitter/web/podcast geek meetup.
The Central Square co-working loft gets a write-up in the Globe.
Upcoming release for the Nintendo DS, allowing you to play your DS like a guitar. It’ll be interesting to see how much it appeals to a music-geek like me who’s never played a guitar in his life.
Michel Gondry’s next film. Jack Black and Mos Def remaking Ghostbusters and Robocop? Looks good!
Well-written (for a 12-year-old) review of the OLPC XO laptop. The main concern about how slow it is seems moot to me for the target audience for whom this is their first computer: I accepted three-minute loading times on my ZX Spectrum at that age. (And is this a vindication of the original Speccy’s rubber keyboard?)
Yet another asterisk to go next to Bonds’s name in the record books?
It’s very conflicting to be a Sox fan, now rooting for A-Rod to hit more home runs and overtake Bonds’s record.
All day, I’ve had this bit of music stuck in my head. All I could remember was that it was a movie company’s logo, and things flew around on the screen. I’ve been reduced to scouring YouTube to work out what it was — The ident for “New Line Home Entertainment”! Thank you, the Internet.
This is the first time I've seen Microsoft's Flash-killer Silverlight plugin used on a genuine, non-Microsoft-demo website. MLB are using it to play video.
(Incidentally, how much do I regret deciding to favour getting sleep over finishing watching the game last night? Stupid west-coast games)
“When writer Elena Lappin flew to LA, she dreamed of a sunkissed, laid-back city. But that was before airport officials decided to detain her as a threat to security”
Quality screencasts of the new features in iWork 08. Only had a minor play myself, but the ability to have two independent “tables” visible on one spreadsheet is bloody great.
New version of Keynote lets you record a voiceover for your presentation, then export to YouTube. That’s worth the upgrade price right there!
The CD release party for the Young@Heart Chorus, a group of folks in their 70s, 80s and 90s who cover rock songs like "You Can't Always Get What You Want", "Dancing in the Dark" and a great medley of "Staying Alive" and "I Will Survive".
It could have been a cheap joke, but it was an incredible and inspiring show. If you ever get a chance to see them live, run don't walk!
