This is an old page from Rod Begbie's blog.
It only exists in an attempt to prevent linkrot. No new content will be added to this site, and links and images are liable to be broken. Check out begbie.com to find where I'm posting stuff these days.
Steven Frank of Panic has created a small-scale invitation-only geek auction site. I can confirm from selling an Airport Extreme base station on it last week that it was less hassle, and probably got me a better price, than eBay or Craigslist would have been.
Ping me if you’d like an invite.
I can’t imagine trying to sell anything of value on eBay these days — it’s hard enough on Craigslist, and that’s free to post to. “The cool thing about eBay’s support system is it will always answer your question; unfortunately, that answer will always be a form letter on how to reset your password”
This is a long MeFi thread, but worth reading. Summary: Someone posts to mefi asking if it’s possible to catch an ebay scammer. Turns out said questioner *is* an eBay scammer. Collected MeFi masses turn up addresses, bio, photos, etc on scammer. Now in police hands.
